The Plan

Have you ever had a dream that actually turned into reality? Three years ago I said to my husband, "Let's buy a boat to enjoy our Alaskan Summers". So my husband took me serious and started looking for a boat for us to live aboard when we retired. The search took us close to home, from Seward to Homer, Alaska, down to the outerbanks of Washinton state and crosscountry to the East Coast. We even took a trip to the Ft.Lauderdale Florida Boat Show where we walked up and down the docks looking at multi-million dollars yachts. It wasn't until summer 2011, after we sold our Palmer, Alaska home that we seriously started looking for a suitable boat. It came when we made a trip back to the East Coast for a conference that we saw a 1999 Kadey/Krogen Whaleback in Portsmouth, Virigina, located by our broker Bill Adams .
What we liked about the Whaleback was the fact the layout was on all one level; 3 staterooms, a wide spacious salon, and galley on the starboard side of the boat. A short hallway leads forward, with two staterooms on either side that share a shower head, and a master stateroom and head at the bow. Upstairs is the Pilot House where the captain steers the boat and most likely we will be spending most of our time. The boat also has a regular fridge, GE convection micro oven, and, most importantly, an actual washer/dryer.
