Friday 3/1/13
First I must correct our location. We are docked at the Lighthouse Point Yacht and Racquet Club in the city of Lighthouse Point, FL, NOT MIAMI. We are still several miles north of Miami. We will be staying here for several days waiting for the weather to clear. There is a storm crossing Florida over the next couple of days carrying 50 knot winds and travel even in the ICW would be windy and wet. Marinas closer to Miami are twice as expensive as where we are and anchoring in the coming wind is not advisable, so here we will stay.
We will use the ARRLUK as home base and hope to venture out to see some local sights by rental car. In the mean time here are some shots of our current surroundings.

This big boy pulled in behind us last night, tied up to the sea wall, and took up the turning space behind us. To get out the owner hired a "captain" to get them away from the sea wall and out of the marina. When they did leave, at high tide, they killed the engines trying to turn her and ended up hitting a pile next to us. Suprisingly they did not damage the boat but the pile flexed about a foot. Once they got both engines and all the thrusters working properly they were able to push off the wall and turn the boat but did so with the engines at higher than idle speed because they kept stalling going into gear. Another interesting few moments for all.
